Emmanuel was the husband of my great uncle's youngest child, Ella Mabel WILLCOX born 22 May 1892 in Portsea, Hampshire, UK and died in 1984 in Lota district, Australia. Ella's father was James Frederick WILLCOX (24 May 1845-25 May 1925) ex Royal Marine and then a gold jeweller in Portsmouth, Hants UK. He and his sons ran a gold and silver electroplating business and also made clocks and watches and carried out repairs. Ella's mother was Annie Evered STAIT (1850-26 May 1935). Ella had 11 other siblings, two of whom died in infancy. Another two sadly died prematurely, James George (8 Dec 1876-5 Apr 1893) through accidental poisoning and Lydia (1883-18 Feb 1906) tragically under a train. On a brighter note, another of her brothers, Joseph John (25 Sep 1881-29 Sep 1955) was a baritone singer who notably sang with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company under the stage name of Eric J Boyd. Her youngest brother, Samuel (1885-1977), also emigrated to Australia in 1925 where he died like Ella in Lota district. He was married to Helen Nora Flanagan (in Belfast in 1916) and they emigrated from Portsmouth in the UK. They may have had children in Australia.Re Ella's other brothers and sisters, of those who married, only sister Edith (1889-23 Dec 1968) who married Alan George MATTHEWS (1885-22 Aug 1929) appears to have had any children. Their only child Margaret Irene (known as Peggy) who married Edward Sydney John ROSE (known as Jack) and seems to have had only one child, Mervyn, who died in infancy, kept in touch with her Aunt Ella in Australia.
